Android apps for Smart TV: Wave TV, Nio Player and You Tivi in the 2026 catalog
It is not all Smarters and IBO. Three lesser-known catalog apps fill specific gaps: customers with unusual TVs, low RAM, or particular visual preferences. Here is the breakdown.
Smarters and IBO cover 80% of the market, but in some cases an alternative is the better fit. Three catalog apps deserve consideration when the giants do not match:
WAVE TV
A modern alternative to Smarters with a rethought UX. Supports M3U and Xtream Codes. Its strength is channel-switching speed — no stutters, no long reloads. For customers who do a lot of channel surfing (sports, novelas), Wave TV feels smoother.
When to use it: customer who channel-surfs a lot, customer who complains "Smarters is slow when changing channels," customer with a modern Android TV (2020+).
NIO PLAYER
Player with a minimalist interface. Fewer menus, fewer options. Gets to the point: list of channels / movies / series and play.
When to use it: older or non-technical customers who get "lost" in Smarters. Customers with a very modest TV Box where feature-heavy apps feel slow.
YOU TIVI
Variant focused on live TV + EPG. Clean design, well-presented EPG. Supports Xtream Codes primarily.
When to use it: customer who mostly watches live TV and sports (no heavy VOD) and prefers a dedicated app over the Smarters "all-in-one."
Also: MY PLAY TV
Another mobile + TV alternative with modern UX. A good candidate for younger customers coming from the world of Spotify/Netflix-style apps and expecting that feel in their IPTV app.
When to stick with Smarters/IBO
If your customer has no specific complaint, do not switch. Smarters and IBO are the standards for a reason: stable, well-known, easy to support. The alternatives are for cases where the standard does not fit.
For Roku
